Captain Only Charters –

The hassle free alternative to bareboating .

OR

A less structured  approach  than a fully crewed boat.

Consider a sailing vacation with Captain Trish  who knows and loves the islands, and can give you the sailing vacation that many have described as the best vacation in their lives.  –  And you  can get to  know why she is called the "Bread making Captain"!.

Trish’s version of Captain only charters is designed for those who seek less structure than  found on a fully crewed boat.  Fully crewed boats provide full service including crew and cook.  On Serendipity you are not tied to pre-planned meal times and menus and it is easier to take each day as it comes.  If you charter with just the captain it is assumed you will participate in the sailing of the yacht. – and Trish willingly  gives sailing lessons.

Trish's motto:  " Sail around the islands - not around a menu".

As an alternative to bareboating & those requiring assistance, OR for those who are new to sailing, chartering Serendipity  with a captain offers some very  attractive options:

  • *  The cost of the captain is inclusive in the price.
  • *  The boat is privately owned and  run by her captain, Trish Baily. Serendipity is well maintained,  and attractively outfitted with much more than the bare essentials found on   bareboats.   *  A 15 ft hard bottom inflatable dinghy with a 40HP motor to get you to the best snorkel sites, and to provide  a comfortable ride ashore.
  • * An outstanding snorkeling experience -  With a keen interest in reef ecology and years exploring the reefs in the BVI, Trish can take you to the best  places to snorkel that you will probably not know about or discover if you bareboat.
  • *  For sailors and those used to going out alone on a boat – the boat is yours to sail.   Trish will worry about anchoring and running the refrigerator and charging the batteries  etc. – those tasks  that are not  the favorites on board.
  • *  For non sailors chartering Serendipity is a great introduction to sailing and a  great way to explore the islands.
  • Mechanical failures –  the problems that can ruin a vacation, have been minimal & minor on Serendipity.  Serendipity is carefully serviced on a preventative maintenance to ensure a trouble free charter.
  • *  Some people prefer the flexibility of preparing their own meals, grabbing a bite when the whim hits them, and eating ashore when they feel lazy.
  • *  Trish  has been a bareboat captain, and cook and has cooked on large boats.  With her experience she will assist you in making up a practical provisioning list to suit your needs and budget, & can put all your provisions on the boat and have them stowed and shilled  prior to  your arrival.
  • *  The boat is kept in Trellis Bay , a short walk from the airport.  -   You will be met at the airport and within five minutes will be on the boat – no taxi,  no overnight hotel (as many bareboat companies require), no morning spent at briefings and stocking the boat. On your return pick up the mooring two hours and ten minutes before your plane leaves and head to the airport – no debriefing, no taxi, just walk off the boat.  This is what people love about coming on Serendipity.   In essence you add a day to your precious vacation time.

  • “ Tortola looked wild as we sailed along the sparsely populated North Coast.  We anchored in Brewer’s Bay, alone, over a wedge of sandy bottom flanked by shallow reefs.  Off the point to the north we swam through curtains of small fry suspended in the water. They opened a passageway for us.   And then opened again as five tarpon circled, 4 ft long, full bodied fish with burnished scales and down-turned mouths like herrings."  Tom Zydlerexplorer, writer photographer from   Feature article “Sailing” magazine,  October 1999.
